Analysis of the correlation between existence and narrative time (Case study: Aboutorab Khosravi's short stories)

Abstract In the field of literary fiction, existence and identity of characters are closely attached to narrative time of the story, therefore knowing one of them require some information about the other one as well. This research attempt to gain a qualitative knowledge about the existence of the characters through narrative time strategies. In order to accomplish this aim, some of Aboutorab Khosravi’s short stories from two story collections will be considered. Narrative analysis is the methodology for approaching the purpose. Regarding the relation between time and existence, we’re going to review four categories: 1- temporal existence attach to external world, 2- temporal united existence, despite fading in persona, 3- the objective evolution in frozen time, 4- existence, before and after physical creation in unstable time. the conclusion is that the existence of characters is directly connected to time and being temporal.
